Right next to the San Moritz is the head of the Upper Loop trail. It winds down thru the side of Mt. Crested Butte among the aspen trees, with breathtaking views of the valley all the way. The trail takes a sharp right and you end up in the town of Crested Butte. If you go strait, you will end up in Skyland, a community development built around a golf course. To come home again from Crested Butte town, just take the free town bus! It will drop you off right at the building. Upper Loop Trail - Easy to Moderate - 3.4 miles
This begins just below the San Moritz - you can't miss it - a wide cement trail that winds like a river thru a most gorgeous valley, and ends in Crested Butte. It's 2.75 miles to the town of Crested Butte. This should be everyone's first hike, and will seem way to easy after the first trip!
This begins at the corner of Crested Butte town and goes right past Peanut Lake, past the Peanut Mine onto single-track trails. This is a real hike. It is 2.5 miles. But there are so many incredible trails. Come prepared with map and book!
